I’m a writer, photographer and Journalist, born and raised in the Netherlands. I recently relocated to Los Angeles after 7 years in Northern California.

My idea of a perfect day starts with waking up in a country I’ve never been to, surrounded a language I don’t yet speak, followed by adventures in a culture different than my own. To say I love to travel is an understatement. I’ve been living as a Digital Nomad, taking my work and studies to over 20 countries in 2 years. My online jobs in Marketing and Business have allowed me to build a career while sitting on a beach in Kona or a having avocado toast at a coffeeshop in Manila. I love to share my photographs, videos and stories with people – which is the main reason Open Horizons was born.

One of my life mottos is Ancora Imparo, “yet I learn”, or “I am still learning”. These two Italian words that Michelangelo allegedly wrote on one of his sketches at age 82, inspire me to always find new things to learn, as well as give myself grace to not have it all perfectly figured out yet.

My dream is to tell stories that advocate for human rights across the globe. A fact needs a face before anyone cares. Story-telling makes global issues relatable and allow people to become aware of our shared humanity. I dream about traveling around the world with a small crew to do investigative journalism and to feature non-profits that fight for social justice. I want to use my words and (moving) pictures to highlight the beautiful diversity of unfamiliar cultures. This means that besides travel stories and recommendations, I also write about human rights, social justice, sustainable lifestyles and local-empowered charity.

I’ve personally experienced how genuine and unconditional Love can bring you from fear to freedom. Insecurity and fear were my close companions for far too many years, and they paralyzed me to a point I could not enjoy life or love myself. I want to share my own journey into freedom, because if it’s possible for me, it is most certainly available for you too.
